If you’re a bit of a product junkie like myself, you know about Ms. Jessie’s and Carol’s Daughter. But, did you know that right here in the Northwest we have a locally owned and manufactured natural hair product line? In Olympia, WA. to be exact. If you haven't guessed yet, the company is Alaffia.
I had a chance to try The Virgin Coconut and Shea butter Hair lotion (which smells marvelous!) and just this morning washed and went with their Shea and Virgin Coconut Enriching Shampoo and the Neem and Shea Scalp Recovery Conditioner (my hair and scalp just hates it when the seasons change.) The Neem oil in the conditioner, went to work right away. I could feel a wonderful cooling sensation and my scalp just felt very happy! Yeah! To top that off, the products are purchased through Fair Trade from small business women in Togo, West Africa. The company also donates funds to help fund community enrichment projects in West African communities. Among other projects Alaffia donates funds to purchase metal roofs, school benches, and school supplies to rural schools in central Togo. You can check out Alaffia and their other products on their website. Way to go Alaffia!
